MicroFinance Transparency (MFT) is a young non-profit organization (501c3) that promotes fair and transparent pricing in the microfinance industry. Its desire is to be the venue for the microfinance industry to publicly demonstrate its commitment to pricing transparency, integrity and poverty alleviation. MFT’s vision is to have an industry operating with healthy free market conditions where consumers and other stakeholders can make informed decisions.
About the Job:
MFT is seeking three Research Analysts or Associates with a one-year, renewable contract. Based in Accra, Ghana, the Analysts/Associates are responsible for supporting MFT’s Africa team, assisting with global data processing and analysis, contributing to the development and dissemination of educational materials and supporting senior management on development and fundraising activities.
Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the implementation of the enabling APR & EIR program in Africa by:
    • Country research (est. 20% of time):
      • Conducting market research and contributing to implementation strategy plan;
      • Planning training workshops and logistics of in-country missions;
      • Contributing to writing of country market research reports for publication on the web.
    • Data collection, analysis and dissemination (est. 60% of time):
      • Conducting loan data collection, processing and analysis for all MFIs in program countries;
      • Analyzing data for use in reports and articles related to microfinance and consumer protection;
      • Supporting the information dissemination process by creating stakeholder and donor materials.
    • Communications (est 10%):
      • Developing web and social media content (blog posts, Twitter feeds, educational resources, etc);
      • Working with development and communications associate to create and disseminate marketing and communication materials such as press releases, conference materials, presentations, etc. to increase MFTransparency’s profile in the international microfinance community.
    • Project Management (est. 10%):
      • Conducting regular monitoring and reporting to senior staff;
      • Supporting the development of new project and follow-on grant proposals, donor reports and track KPIs (key performance indicators) for MFT to report to donors;
      • Supporting special projects related to the enabling APR & EIR Program as assigned by MFT senior staff;
      • Supporting MFT staff in the development and evaluation of implementation strategy.
  • Support special projects related to the transparent pricing initiative as assigned by MFT senior staff.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of microfinance industry and major issues/debates;
  • Minimum of a bachelors degree preferably in economics, business, international development or related field; Master’s degree in international affairs or 2-4 years international work experience preferred but not required;
  • Proven experience collecting and analyzing data;
  • Proactive, engaged and ethical team player;
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word);
  • Experience in relationship management with international organizations a plus;
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills in English required.
